RTMS in Meridian ID

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Meridian ID, a unique treatment for brain injury and fb-depression-lp.
What is Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in Meridian ID?
TMS is a way to provide non-invasive stimulation to the brain. A magnet made of coils delivers different frequencies. It is placed over the patients head to target the desired brain region. We utilize theta burst repetitive TMS (rTMS). Theta burst is a newer form of rTMS and is being used more commonly due to shorter treatments needed to obtain the same result.
How Does rTMS work?
rTMS is a way to stimulate specific regions of the brain. It is used in two ways to provides timulation: low frequency to decrease firing or high frequency to increase the firing of the respective region of the brain. The goal is to have each part of the brain fire correctly, which allows for improved function.
The changes are not only during the session but persist much longer. The ability of the brain to change is called plasticity. Plasticity is a result of the increased communication between individual neurons ultimately leading to improved brain function. Increased plasticity has been observed in stroke, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, fb-depression-lp, anxiety, headaches, autism, multiple sclerosis, and movement disorders.
Who Can Benefit
rTMS has become one of the most researched non-pharmacological therapies for brain injuries and diseases. The questions about safety have been answered and questions are now focused around what conditions it can help and how much it can. The results from research show hope for acute and chronic neurological diseases and injuries that previously were considered untreatable.

Most patients will see rapid improvement after the sessions are performed. The results will persist for some time following treatment depending on what is treated. When the brain functions appropriately symptoms of fb-depression-lp, anxiety, balance, spasticity, stiffness, memory, concentration, walking, and many more may improve.
